Mavericks vs Lakers: How many points did Luka Doncic score tonight against his former team?

The Los Angeles Lakers hosted the Dallas Mavericks in one of the most anticipated NBA games tonight, Tuesday, February 25. It was for the first time both sides were up against each other since the blockbuster trade deal that sent Luka Doncic to the Lakers, Anthony Davis to the Mavericks.

Stake were high tonight and all eyes were glued at the Crypto.com Arena. While Doncic made his fifth appearance in the purple and gold colors, fans were disappointed to not see their former star Anthony Davis into the Mavs lineup.

Notably, Davis has been nursing an adductor injury he sustained in his debut game for the Mavericks. He is expected to miss a few more games before returning to action.

Doncic, who announced his arrival in Hollywood with his 32 points against the Nuggets in the previous game was in fiery form right from the beginning. The 25-year-old had his first triple double for the Lakers as he finished the night with 19 points, 15 rebounds and 12 assists. He became the first player a triple-double with five stocks (steals + blocks) in the first game against their former team.

In the first quarter, the Lakers led the Mavs 28-20, where, star of the night, Doncic added nine points, seven rebounds and four assists. Kyrie Irving, on the other hand, added 14 points for the Mavericks. The lead extended to 59-51 at the halftime, the gap which slimmed down to 78-77 at the end of the third quarter. Doncic scored 17 points and 15 rebounds, which then reached 19 points by the end of the game as the Lakers outclassed their rivals 107-99.
