Anthony Davis Injury: How long is Anthony Davis expected to be sidelined?

Garima Ranawat

Davis had an average of 25.7 points, 11.9 rebounds, 2.1 blocks, 3.4 assists and 1.3 steals per game in 42 matches he played with the Lakers this season.

The wait was finally over, and the former Los Angeles Lakers star, Anthony Davis finally made his debut with the new side, the Dallas Mavericks. Davis was involved in one of the biggest deals of the league, when Luka Doncic headed to his former side to join forces with stars like LeBron James

When the deal was announced, Davis was already out of action due to his abdominal strain he had suffered during the Lakers’ 118-104 loss to the Philadelphia Sixers. While he had to miss a few games for the new franchise, another former Lakers’ player who joined him, Max Christie, has been thriving with the Mavs.

After much contemplation, Davis made his debut during the Mavericks’ 116-105 win over the Houston Rockets on Feb. 8. The 31-year-old had a great start to his stint in Dallas and he posted 26 points, 16 rebounds and seven assists in 31 minutes.

However, his dream debut with the new side was not as dreamy as he and the fans would have thought. Davis was forced to walk off the court with 1:37 left in the third quarter with a lower-body injury, which was later identified as groin and quadriceps tightness.

Things seemed to be fine when he downplayed his injury and told reporters that it was “nothing serious.”

However, the 10-time NBA All-Star was ruled out of the Monday game against the Kings in the Mavs’ injury report. Things got a lot worse when it was announced that what was supposed to be a minor injury, turned out to be a lot worse.

How long is Anthony Davis expected to be sidelined?

Fans’ worst fears came true when ESPN’s Shams Charania shared an update about Davis’ injury. Earlier, there were reports that he would be out of action for an indefinite period, but per Shams, the former Lakers’ star is likely to be out for almost a month.

Charania shared, “Dallas Mavericks star Anthony Davis is expected to miss multiple weeks with a left adductor strain, sources tell ESPN. His absence could stretch to a month.”

An official statement from the Mavs’ on the injury is awaited. Notably, Davis had an average of 25.7 points, 11.9 rebounds, 2.1 blocks, 3.4 assists and 1.3 steals per game in 42 matches he played with the Lakers this season. While he was expected to do wonders on the court with Kyrie Irving, fans’ wait isn’t going to end anytime soon.
