2025 All-Star: Giannis Antetokounmpo to miss All-Star game with calf strain

Antetokounmpo was part of Team Chuck, the eight-man squad drafted last week by TNT analyst Charles Barkley.

Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo will miss the 74th All-Star game in San Francisco, California, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported. Antetokounmpo will be out due to a mild calf strain. The Bucks star last played on Feb. 2 against the Memphis Grizzlies.

As per sources, the 6-foot-11 forward will make his return after the All-Star break. The Bucks superstar has already missed three straight games due to injury. Antetokounmpo scored 30 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists in his last game.

The Greek Freak may return on Feb. 20 against the Los Angeles Clippers, Doc Rivers, the head coach of the Bucks, stated on Sunday. “That’s the hope. We’re really hoping that when we come out of the break, we have our team. That’s the hope. That’s the guide,” Rivers spoke to reporters.

Antetokounmpo was part of Team Chuck, the eight-man squad drafted last week by TNT analyst Charles Barkley. The Bucks superstar was the fourth of the 24 players drafted by Barkley, Shaquille O’Neal and Kenny Smith to the All-Star rosters.

Milwaukee Bucks are sitting fifth in the Eastern Conference with a 28-23 record and have lost six of their last ten games. They are 4-5 without Giannis Antetokounmpo this season.

Who’s going to replace Giannis Antetokounmpo in All-Star Game?

The NBA hasn’t announced any replacement for Giannis Antetokounmpo, who was confirmed as the starter from the Eastern Conference. The replacement will also be from the Eastern Conference and Atlanta Hawks’ Trae Young is the frontrunner to join the All-Star team.

Atlanta Hawks guard was also an injury replacement on the Eastern Conference team for the 2024 All-Star Game.The All-Star point guard is averaging 23.5 points on 40.9% shooting from the field and leads the league in assists with 11.4 per game.

LaMelo Ball can also give tough competition to Trae Young to replace the Greek Freak. The Charlotte Hornets star is averaging 28 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 7.4 assists per game this season.
