After missing last three games, Linus Ullmark is ready to play again
The Ottawa Senators have received a significant boost with the return of their star goaltender, Linus Ullmark, for their upcoming road trip.
Ullmark, who missed the last three games due to a strain, is set to rejoin the team as they head into a critical stretch of the season. His comeback comes at a pivotal time, with Ottawa looking to solidify its early-season momentum after a mixed start.
Linus Ullmark was acquired by the Senators in a high-profile trade from the Boston Bruins this past offseason.
The 2023 Vezina Trophy winner has already shown glimpses of his top-tier form, posting a 1-1-0 record, a 2.58 goals-against average, and a .914 save percentage in his two starts before the injury.
The Senators also signed Ullmark to a four-year, $33 million contract extension, solidifying his role as their franchise goaltender.
This commitment came after Ullmark’s stellar run with the Bruins, where he posted career-high numbers, including a 1.89 GAA and .938 save percentage during his Vezina-winning season .
As Linus Ullmark returns, Ottawa’s head coach and management are optimistic that his presence will help stabilize the team’s defense, particularly during this three-game road trip that begins with a visit to Utah.
The Senators are also making additional roster moves, sending Mads Søgaard back to AHL Belleville, while calling up forward Cole Reinhardt to bolster their offensive depth.
Reinhardt has been impressive in Belleville with five points in three games this season.
