F1 analyst David Croft comes in support of Lewis Hamilton amidst retirement rumors
The performance of Ferrari’s 2025 challenger and Lewis Hamilton’s difficulties in the 2025 season are well known. Hamilton is currently sixth in the driver standings. In a rare instance, he is trailing behind his teammate with no podiums to his name. Furthermore, the seven-time champion doesn’t shy away from expressing his lack of confidence every weekend.
Lewis Hamilton’s retirement from Formula 1 is a hot topic. During his stint with Mercedes in the past few years, Hamilton was facing similar issues in performance. There were rumors that Hamilton would retire soon. But despite all odds, the Briton managed to plow through and continue in Formula 1. The 2025 season is bringing these ghosts back once again. Mattia Binotto thinks that Hamilton is at the end of his career. He even rebuked Ferrari for being too late to secure Hamilton. The entire paddock is questioning Hamilton’s motives to retire from Formula 1.
Formula 1 analyst and Sky F1 commentator David Croft ist among the many supporters of Lewis Hamilton this season. His lack of pace is attracting a lot of criticism but Crofty thinks otherwise.
David Croft also explained the blunder between Hamilton and Hulkenberg in the Spanish GP. Since Hulkenberg was on fresh soft tyres, it was easy for him to overtake Hamilton. Crofty emphasised by claiming that Nico would be able to overtake any car in his way with the soft tyres.

“I think we were all hoping for more positives, to be honest, especially after China, when he looked an absolute world beater once again. He was so down on Sunday. Rachel Brookes was saying that he actually apologised to her after his interview in the pen, and he went and said sorry because he was so down and not the best interviewee she’s ever had.”
“Let’s try and offer a bit of hope on this one for him. Ferrari haven’t specified exactly what the issue was, but according to Fred Vasseur, there was an issue with the car in the final stint, and that wasn’t helping him.”
It is clear that David Croft is not going to be swayed by his retirement rumors. Hamilton’s victory in the Sprint race is also a reminded of his innate ability. Carlos Sainz was also unable to adapt to the car for the first few races but once he found his mojo, he could easily drive the Williams. Lewis Hamilton is in a similar situation at Ferrari. Let’s hope that a successful Canadian GP weekend puts him out of the pressure. The entire paddock is waiting for Hamilton to reiterate his racing prowess in the Formula 1 world championship.
nhl I work as a Writer at The Playoffs specialising in NHL, Formula 1 and Motorsports. I got into online journalism a couple of years ago. I used to be an intern for a website managing their Formula 1 content and then I served an entire year as a contractual writer.
Read moreFor me, online journalism was not something I expected. I am a Mechanical Engineer aiming to join Formula 1. At the same time, I am a poet, writer and my university’s Literary Club Lead. One day the dots connected together and I realised I could use my writing skills to convey my passion for Motorsports.
The biggest aspects I love about my role are- Scuderia Ferrari and Sebastian Vettel. When I am not fawning over them I like to convey my opinions to the public, in a manner which helps them gain a new point of view. I love helping people explore new ideas about Motorsports and obviously get recognised as a writer all over the world.
Message to Readers: I promise you one day you’ll see me managing operations on track with a Formula 1 team ; )
