Kyle Hamilton Injury Update: Ravens’ star safety out with ankle injury vs. Bengals in TNF Week 10

Hamilton's injury isn’t as bad as it looked, says coach

Baltimore Ravens safety Kyle Hamilton left Thursday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals due to an ankle injury.

The standout 2023 All-Pro and third-year player from Notre Dame walked off the field with Baltimore’s training staff near the two-minute warning in the first half, heading straight to the locker room. Initially marked as questionable, he was later declared out in the third quarter.

What happened to Kyle Hamilton?

Ravens’ safety appeared to go down without any contact during a first-down play, just under two minutes left in the half. Frustrated, he punched the ground while Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow completed a 13-yard pass to Ja’Marr Chase. Trainers quickly escorted Hamilton off the field and into the blue medical tent.

“He’s being evaluated in the X-ray room at M&T Bank Stadium,” reported Amazon’s Kaylee Hartung.

Before his exit, Hamilton had already racked up four tackles (two solo) and two pass breakups. Baltimore’s defense felt his absence as Cincinnati quickly capitalized, taking a 14-7 lead just four plays after the game had been tied at 7-7.

Kyle Hamilton Injury Update

Fans watching the replay of Hamilton slipping on the M&T Bank Stadium grass took to social media, concerned he may have suffered a serious injury, potentially even an Achilles tear. The Ravens quickly listed Hamilton as questionable to return, pinpointing an ankle issue, but eventually ruled him out by the third quarter.

After the game—a thrilling 35-34 win for Baltimore—head coach John Harbaugh reassured reporters about Kyle Hamilton’s status, describing it as an ankle sprain and “not super serious.” However, Harbaugh didn’t provide a specific timeline for his return.

Hamilton had totaled four tackles before he left the field, able to walk off on his own. Heading into Thursday’s game, he ranked among the NFL’s top defensive backs, boasting a season record with five pass breakups, five quarterback hits, and three tackles for loss.

The Ravens have also utilized him in various roles, including as a linebacker and nickel cornerback, reflecting his versatility on the field.
