Kostas Tsimikas Edging Towards Liverpool Exit Amid Transfer Window Uncertainty

Ritam Dey

Kostas Tsimikas is reportedly moving closer to the Anfield exit door this summer, with Liverpool now open to letting the Greek full-back leave either permanently or on loan. The 29-year-old has fallen further down the pecking order following the arrival of Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth, with Andy Robertson expected to remain first-choice under Arne Slot.

Lack of Minutes Pushes Tsimikas Towards Exit

The Greek international has already felt the effects of Liverpool’s reshuffled defensive options. After being omitted from the squad against Crystal Palace in the Community Shield and then again in the Premier League opener against Bournemouth, Tsimikas is understood to be preparing for life away from Merseyside. Reports suggest that despite past interest from Atletico Madrid, there are currently no firm offers from Spain, leaving the door open for a potential Premier League move. Nottingham Forest have been linked, with the Midlands club still searching for reinforcements at left-back. Fabrizio Romano has reported that Liverpool would also consider sanctioning a loan, highlighting the club’s willingness to facilitate his departure.

Liverpool’s Transfer Business Creates Flexibility

While Tsimikas edges towards an exit, Liverpool’s broader transfer activity has been one of the stories of the summer. The Reds have already surpassed £200 million in player sales, thanks to major departures such as Darwin Núñez and Luis Díaz, along with Ben Doak’s expected £25m switch to Bournemouth. New sporting director Richard Hughes has overseen a series of efficient deals that have left the club with significant financial room to manoeuvre.

That flexibility could become crucial in the weeks ahead as Liverpool weigh up a marquee addition in attack. Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak has been consistently linked, with suggestions that the club could test the waters with a bid, even though his valuation is thought to exceed £100m.

For now, Tsimikas’ immediate future remains the most pressing question. Once considered a valuable deputy to Robertson, his path to regular minutes now looks increasingly blocked. Unless there is a sudden change in circumstances, the Greek international appears set to bring his Anfield chapter to a close before the window shuts.
