Josh Allen’s 5th straight 40+ TD season as Bills make NFL history with 30+ passing and rushing TDs

Josh Allen’s historic season fuels Bills' NFL-record offense

The Buffalo Bills carved their name into NFL history this season, becoming the first team to score 30+ passing and 30+ rushing touchdowns in a single year. This achievement reflects their offensive depth and team-first mentality, led by quarterback Josh Allen’s dominant play.

Bills break records in style

In Week 18 against the New England Patriots, the Bills tied the game at 7-7 in the second quarter with a three-yard touchdown pass from Mitch Trubisky to Ray Davis. This marked the team’s 30th passing touchdown of the season. Contributions came from a range of players, showcasing their depth:

  • Top pass catchers: Mack Hollins (5), Khalil Shakir (4), Keon Coleman (4), Ty Johnson (3), and others.
  • Rushing dominance: James Cook led with 15 rushing TDs, followed by Allen’s 12.

By the end of the season, the Bills had 64 total touchdowns, a franchise record.

Team culture shines

Buffalo’s roster embodies a selfless culture. Players celebrated each other’s milestones and incentives during the regular season finale. Edge rusher Von Miller recorded his sixth sack, triggering a contract bonus.

“It felt good to have all my teammates supportive of it,” Miller said.

Sam Martin pinned his 25th punt inside the opponent’s 20-yard line, earning his own incentive. “There were a handful of guys chasing incentives today. Everyone rooted for each other,” Martin shared.

James Cook ties franchise rushing record

Running back James Cook tied O.J. Simpson’s franchise record with his 16th rushing touchdown. Cook also surpassed 1,000 rushing yards for the season, marking a career-best stretch.

“It was huge. Jimbo runs his tail off all year long,” Mitch Trubisky said.

Josh Allen’s historic streak

Allen extended his active start streak to 115 games, the longest among current NFL quarterbacks. Lions QB Jared Goff is a distant second with 51 consecutive starts.

Bills head coach Sean McDermott praised Allen’s commitment. “I’m not surprised. Maintaining this streak was important to him,” McDermott noted.

Playoff focus and team mindset

Despite a 23-16 loss to the Patriots, the Bills clinched their fifth straight AFC East title and secured the No. 2 seed. McDermott emphasized the importance of taking the playoffs one game at a time.

“Everything is earned. You’re going against the best every week,” McDermott said.

Buffalo heads into the postseason with confidence, aiming to turn their record-setting season into a Super Bowl run.
