Despite Jamie Vardy's impending exit from Leicester City, the striker has confirmed that he has no plans to retire.
Leicester City legend Jamie Vardy is set to make his final appearance for the club at the King Power Stadium on Sunday. It will bring an iconic 13-year spell to an end. The club has confirmed that the 38-year-old forward will feature against already-relegated Ipswich Town in what will be his 500th and final game for the Foxes.
The decision to stage Vardy’s farewell at home rather than in the season’s final fixture away at Bournemouth has been taken to ensure a proper send-off in front of the Leicester fans. As a result, Vardy will not play against Bournemouth on 25 May. The club has urged fans to arrive early and remain after the full-time whistle to pay tribute to a player who has become one of the most iconic figures in Leicester’s modern history.

Vardy’s journey has been nothing short of a fairytale. Signed from non-league side Fleetwood Town in 2012 for just £1 million, the Sheffield-born striker defied all expectations to become Leicester’s all-time leading Premier League scorer with 144 top-flight goals. He currently has 199 goals in 499 appearances across all competitions and will aim to hit the double-century milestone on Sunday.
Among his many achievements, Vardy famously scored 24 goals during Leicester’s astonishing 2015–16 Premier League title-winning campaign, arguably the greatest underdog story in Premier League history. He followed that up by helping the club reach the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals the next season. Vardy was also instrumental in Leicester’s historic 2021 FA Cup win, as the Foxes defeated Chelsea at Wembley to lift the trophy for the first time in their history.
Despite Vardy’s impending exit from Leicester City, he has confirmed that he has no plans to retire and is still determined to play at the highest level. With nine goals to his name this season, he remains an effective contributor on the pitch. Speaking to Sky Sports, Jamie Vardy said that he doesn’t have any doubts that he can continue delivering in the Premier League.

Vardy said,
“Football is a crazy world. You never know what’s going to happen.
“I’ll keep going until my legs tell me I need to stop. My legs are fine.
“I’m doing a sport that I love, it’s what I’ve done since I was a little kid so long may that continue.”
