Swiatek is just three wins away to become the first woman to clinch four straight Roland Garros titles.
Former world No. 1 and the defending champion, Iga Swiatek will take on 13th-seeded Elina Svitolina in the quarterfinals of the 2025 Roland Garros. The Polish ace survived a scare against Elena Rybakina in the fourth round to extend her winning streak to 25 matches in the French Open. On the other hand, Svitolina knocked out last season’s runner-up, Jasmine Paolini to reach quarterfinals. The winner of this game will face either Aryna Sabalenka or Qinwen Zheng in the semifinals.
Iga Swiatek is a real clay-court queen and she proved this in her fourth-round when she was trailing 2-0 in the second set after dropping the first set 6-1. The 4-time French Open champion held the nerves to force the decider and won the final set 7-5 to become only the fourth player in the competition history to win 25 consecutive matches at Roland Garros. Swiatek enters in the quarterfinal after playing longest match of the season and fatigue could play a big role.

The former world No. 1 hasn’t won a singles’ title since her 2024 Roland Garros glory but she has been outstanding on the clay-court. The 24-year-old has a 17-1 record on clay court this year, and has gone 6-1 in the Grand Slam quarterfinals. Swiatek is just three wins away to become the first woman to clinch four straight Roland Garros titles.
Elina Svitolina can take inspiration from Rybakina, who almost pulled off an upset against Swiatek. The Ukrainian ace is coming off a biggest upset of this competition as she overcame Jasmine Paolini in the fourth round. The Italian ace recently won the title in Rome and played the finals in the 2025 Roland Garros. She saved three match points, rallied from 1-4 in the second set.

Svitolina has posted an 18-2 on clay court this season. The 30-year-old secured the title in Rouen this year. She reached the semifinals in Madrid, and quarterfinals in Rome. The Ukrainian ace has a 3-9 record in Grand Slam quarterfinals and if she manages to win this game, the poor semifinal record (0-4) will haunt her. She has beaten Swiatek at Wimbledon 2023 but Roland Garros is the fortress of the Polish ace.
Iga Swiatek holds the 3-1 record in the WTA Head-to-Head meetings. The Polish ace lost the only Grand Slam meeting when Svitolina had the last laugh in the 2023 Wimbledon quarterfinals. Swiatek has a 1-0 record on clay-court matchup and won all three matches in straight sets.

Iga Swiatek’s fourth-round victory made him favorites to go all the way to clinch the fifth Roland Garros title. However, Svitolina also had a terrific comeback of her own against Paolini, saving three match points. It could be a match of the day in the 2025 French Open. Swiatek has a good control on her serve and she takes charge in crunch situation. Iga’s heavy spin will test Svitolina and if the Polish ace takes the opening set, it would be a two-set game for sure.
Prediction: Iga Swiatek to win in three sets.
As per the current odds via moneyline and BetMGM, Iga Swiatek is favourites to win the game but she will likely to drop a set. There are 65% chances Elina Svitolina can clinch the opening set and match will go into the final set.
