Swiatek eyes her first Wimbledon quarterfinal since 2023 as she faces in-form Tauson in a high-stakes fourth-round clash.
Eighth seed Iga Swiatek is set to take on 23rd seed Clara Tauson in the Wimbledon 2025 fourth round, with a quarterfinal spot up for grabs. Swiatek’s path has been steady. The Pole eased past Polina Kudermetova, overcame a three-set test from Caty McNally, and dispatched Danielle Collins in straight sets to reach the second week.
Tauson has been on a breakout run, opening with a comeback win over wildcard Heather Watson, followed by a straight-sets victory against Anna Kalinskaya sealed with a tiebreak. Her biggest statement came in the third round, where she stunned 11th seed and 2022 champion Elena Rybakina in straight sets, again taking the first set in a breaker.

While Swiatek is still chasing her first title of 2025, her consistency stands out. She’s made the quarterfinals or better at nine events, including semifinals at the Australian Open, Indian Wells, Madrid, and Roland Garros, and was runner-up in Bad Homburg, losing to Jessica Pegula. Across 47 matches, she’s fired 119 aces and won 67.5% of first-serve points, along with a 51.2% break-point conversion.
Tauson’s season has been more uneven. She claimed the Auckland title after Naomi Osaka retired in the final and followed it with a semifinal in Linz and a Dubai final, where she upset world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka but lost to Andreeva in the finals. But post-Dubai, results dipped, with only a quarterfinal run in Nottingham. In 38 matches, she’s hit 223 aces and won nearly 70% of first-serve points, with a 42.9% break-point conversion rate.
