The fighting world has witnessed many transitions. Boxers move to MMA. Wrestlers try kickboxing. But few have mastered multiple combat sports like Holly Holm. Once upon a time, she ruled the boxing world. Her gloves collected dust while she chased UFC glory. Now at 43, ‘The Preacher’s Daughter’ returns to where it all began, back to Boxing!

Before becoming the woman who shattered Ronda Rousey’s undefeated streak with a head kick heard around the world, she dominated women’s boxing. Her impressive 33-2-3 record earned her spots in multiple halls of fame. She captured titles across several divisions, proving herself as a genuine pound-for-pound talent. But in 2013, she hung up her boxing gloves to focus exclusively on MMA. Fast forward to 2025, and Holm is coming full circle, bringing her wealth of experience back to the ring under a new promotional banner.

MVP Deal Opens New Doors For Holly Holm

After leaving the UFC, Holm has found a new home with Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions (MVP). The deal comes after a brief period of uncertainty following her UFC departure. Though Holm initially signed with the now-defunct Global Fight League, that venture collapsed before she could compete. MVP stepped in, offering her not just a platform but an immediate opportunity to compete. She will face 10-1 boxer Yolanda Vega on June 28 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, sharing the card with Paul’s bout against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

For Holm, this first fight represents more than just a return, it is an exploration of new territory. Despite her impressive boxing credentials, Holm has never competed at lightweight. Her previous boxing titles came at higher weight classes, making this next chapter particularly intriguing.

While Holm’s immediate focus remains on Vega, her long-term vision extends much further. Talking to Ariel Helwani, the fighter revealed she has her sights set on eventually challenging boxing superstar Amanda Serrano. The seven-division world champion represents the kind of legacy-defining fight that could cement Holm’s status as one of the greatest combat sports athletes of all time. But Holm isn’t getting ahead of herself, she is taking this comeback one step at a time.

“I don’t ever look past anyone who i am going to face. She (Serrano) is undefeated. She lacks maybe the experience but she is undefeated, she is tough. I wanna be able to fight and do well there [against Vega]. And that is as far as my immediate goal is. Yeah i would then want to fight for the title and by able to fight Serrano or Taylor after that.”

The June matchup against Vega serves as more than just a warmup. It’s a test to see how her skills translate after focusing on MMA for over a decade. At 43, many fighters would be contemplating retirement, but Holm seems energized by this new chapter. Her transition arrives at an interesting time for women’s boxing, which has seen unprecedented growth in recent years. The sport Holm left in 2013 barely resembles the one she is returning to: bigger purses, more television coverage, and significantly more public interest. If her MMA career proved anything, it’s that counting out Holly Holm is always a mistake. Whether she’ll capture that elusive fourth division title remains to be seen, but her journey back to boxing promises to be anything but boring.
