“I think the Crawford fight will be his last fight. There’s no intel there and I’ve not had any conversations with him. But after watching that Scull fight, and don’t get me wrong, Scull was unbelievably negative, after Crawford, what is there to do? I just think Father Time, the body, the mojo, I don’t know. I actually thought during the Scull fight, ‘I wouldn’t be surprised if he just didn’t fight Crawford.’“

Hearn’s comments make sense when fans consider Canelo’s career trajectory. At 34 years old, Alvarez has accomplished nearly everything possible in the sport. He has become a champion in four weight classes. He has been the face of boxing’s biggest events for years. The physical toll of training camps and fights has surely begun to add up. The promoter also pointed out an interesting perspective on the Crawford matchup. Despite it being a super fight between two all-time greats, Hearn believes Canelo feels he won’t get proper credit for beating someone who has fought most of his career at lighter weight classes.
