Prepare for a long of racing action for three weeks before F1 hits Zandvoort
An intense season of rivalry and action is finally going to take a break. For the next three weeks, there will be no Grand Prix in Formula 1. The sport is going to take a mandatory summer break. The F1 summer break will not allow the teams to upgrade or test any new parts for their 2025 challenger. The teams will basically halt every work related to the performance of the car in the 2025 F1 season.
The Hungary Grand Prix was the latest race weekend in the F1 calendar. The race was won by McLaren’s Lando Norris while his teammate came in second place. As of August 2025, only nine points separate the two championship contenders. There are only 10 more races left in the 2025 F1 season. Here’s all you need to know about the F1 summer break and the upcoming race weekend in Formula 1 2025 season.
The Article 21.8 of the FIA F1 sporting regulations states that,
“All competitors must observe a shutdown period of fourteen (14) consecutive days during the months of July and / or August.”
The summer break is a necessary regulation which stops the teams from overspending on research and gaining unfair advantage over the smaller teams. Even if the teams want to repair their damaged cars, they need explicit permission from the FIA.

The mandatory 14 day period is variable. Some teams choose to start the Formula 1 summer break early, while others may do it later on.
This lack racing action also helps the teams and Formula 1 personnel take a breather. The Formula 1 summer break is the only time F1 personnel can truly relax.
According to the official Formula 1 calendar, the next Grand Prix weekend is scheduled for the end for the month. The Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix is going to take place in the last week of August from 29th of August to 31st of August. The Dutch Grand Prix is the home race of Max Verstappen. Zandvoort is going to kick off an array of some famous races in the Formula 1 calendar.

The Italian Grand Prix will be the second race after this summer break. The Formula 1 double header at Zandvoort and Monza is a favorite for many Formula 1 fans and enthusiasts.
The Formula 1 summer break usually doesn’t tend to bring performance related news. However, many driver and teams choose to discuss their contracts in this period. Over the next few weeks, we will see some major announcements related to driver lineups and other team related news.
nhl I work as a Writer at The Playoffs specialising in NHL, Formula 1 and Motorsports. I got into online journalism a couple of years ago. I used to be an intern for a website managing their Formula 1 content and then I served an entire year as a contractual writer.
Read moreFor me, online journalism was not something I expected. I am a Mechanical Engineer aiming to join Formula 1. At the same time, I am a poet, writer and my university’s Literary Club Lead. One day the dots connected together and I realised I could use my writing skills to convey my passion for Motorsports.
The biggest aspects I love about my role are- Scuderia Ferrari and Sebastian Vettel. When I am not fawning over them I like to convey my opinions to the public, in a manner which helps them gain a new point of view. I love helping people explore new ideas about Motorsports and obviously get recognised as a writer all over the world.
Message to Readers: I promise you one day you’ll see me managing operations on track with a Formula 1 team ; )
