Here's how the race played out among the drivers and teams during the Belgian Grand Prix

Formula 1 weekend at the Circuit de Spa Francorchamps comes to an end with today’s race. The Belgian Grand Prix was facing heavy downpour leading to delay in start. However, Formula 1 decided not to decrease the number of laps and disappoint the viewers. The race was extremely tricky at the start for all drivers. There were four laps behind the safety car post which a rolling start led the pack.

The entire weekend has seen the rice of midfielders. The cars in the midfield were able to impress the viewers once again with their pace and competition. The Circuit Spa Francorchamps gave viewers everything today. There were a lot of mistakes between the pack during the wet conditions. This led to some interesting changes in the finishing order by lap-44. Let’s go through the Formula 1 Belgian Grand Prix race results.

Belgian Grand Prix Results- Top-10 Drivers from Sunday’s Race in Spa Francorchamps

According to Formula 1 official results, following drivers are the top-10 finishers on Sunday-

  1. Oscar Piastri- McLaren
  2. Lando Norris- McLaren
  3. Charles Leclerc- Ferrari
  4. Max Verstappen- Red Bull Racing
  5. George Russell- Mercedes
  6. Alex Albon- Williams F1
  7. Lewis Hamilton- Ferrari
  8. Liam Lawson- Racing Bulls
  9. Gabriel Bortoleto- Kick Sauber
  10. Pierre Gasly- Alpine

As soon as the race started on lap-5, Oscar Piastri gave the viewers are clear reason for his lead in the world championship. The Aussie took advantage of the slight fumble that his teammate made and overtook in matter of seconds. Oscar Piastri led the race right from the get go and was unstoppable from that point. He lost his lead in Britain but made no mistake this weekend to let go of the victory.

Lando Norris will not be happy with himself this weekend. The Briton was set to win the race starting from pole position. However, he couldn’t defend himself properly against his teammate from behind. Oscar Piastri was able to surpass him easily at the restart. Lando Norris could only finish in second this weekend. Charles Leclerc was able to maintain his podium all through the race. He was able to effectively utilise the Ferrari’s upgrades and won his 5th podium this season.

Max Verstappen had an enjoyable battle with Charles Leclerc for trying to claim a podium finish. However, the Dutchman could not execute the move and ended up in P4. Verstappen won the Sprint race earlier by overtaking Oscar Piastri. During the main race, he could not make a solid move on Charles Leclerc even though he fought the Ferrari until the very end of the race. George Russell finished a rather lacklustre weekend for Mercedes. He was way off the pace compared to the frontrunners and the best he could do was overtake Alex Albon for P5.

Rest of the Top-10- Points for Gabi and Albon and Gasly’s Comeback

Alex Albon proved once again that he can’t be taken out of the midfield so easily. Even though the Williams have been rather slow for the past few weekends, Albon claimed P6 with consistent pace all weekend. Lewis Hamilton has a mega drive at the wet Spa Francorchamps circuit. The seven-time champion was apologetic to Ferrari after his Q1 exits in both qualifying session.

Hamilton made up for his qualifying blunders by overtaking 11 cars in the first 20 laps of the race and securing himself a P7 finish by the end. Starting from the pit lane due to a new power unit, Lewis was there to make his mark. Liam Lawson was the only Racing Bull to finish in points this race. Lawson has been steadily getting better after his previous under-confident races.

Gabriel Bortoleto had a good race and finished a successful weekend for his team. He claimed his second points for the season and helped Sauber with their championship. Pierre Gasly was also able to overtake through the back of the field to claim points finishing P10. He has been the only hope for Alpine all season.

Belgian Grand Prix Results- How Did the Rest of the Grid Fare?

Outside the top-10 the entire grid was full of disappointment. The Haas cars were extremely good performers in the sprint session. Although, they tried their best but both Bearman and Ocon missed points by slight margin. On the other hand, Yuki Tsunoda was starting with Red Bull Racing’s best qualifying results this season could even claim a single point. The Japanese fell down on the order much to the dismay of the team.

Aston Martin were almost non-existent this weekend as their cars tried to navigate and somehow compete from the back of the pack. The Aston Martins ultimately failed to bring out the best of their team at a tricky circuit like Spa. Kimi Antonelli has been out of the spotlight this weekend with a back of the pack finish.

He has had better weekends and Spa is one he will try to forget this year. The same goes for Isack Hadjar. The Frenchman went from competing in points to finishing dead last in the race due to initial errors.
