Fernando Alonso Applauds Adrian Newey’s Influence in the Team!

Fernando Alonso talks about Adrian Newey and his influence on Aston Martin.

Adrian Newey is currently managing the Aston Martin Formula 1 team as their Managing Technical Partner. The famed Formula 1 designer left his former Red Bull Racing in 2024 in favor of Aston Martin F1. Newey is addressing the key issues with Aston Martin, however, his focus is mostly on their 2026 challenger. Newey can also be seen during the 2025 Formula 1 races studying their car in order to make progress in the upcoming season.

Fernando Alonso is the latest talent to have a firsthand experience of Adrian Newey’s design. He spent the 2010-2013 battling against Newey’s designed Red Bulls. However, he has been consistently talking about Adrian Newey’s work ethic since Newey’s addition to Aston Martin. Fernando Alonso himself was facing a terrible start to the season. He had multiple DNFs without claiming a single point in the championship. Alonso’s luck has taken a good turn for once for the last months. Alonso is now able to consistently get better performance out of his car.

Fernando Alonso Appreciates Adrian Newey’s “Much Wider View”

Since his arrival, Adrian Newey has been a radical change for the team. He is leaving no stone unturned in order to bring Aston Martin to the goals they want to achieve. Fernando Alonso shares Newey’s determination in his race craft. Alonso has a knack for getting the best out of the car he is driving.

It is a positive coincidence for Aston Martin that they have one of the best designers and a highly tenacious driving talent to improve the car for the upcoming seasons. Talking about his experience with Adrian Newey, Alonso says-

“We had a couple of lunches together. Generally things about the team, about the simulator, how to make things a little bit more realistic, and he has a lot of experience how a top team should fight for championships and try to be on top of the game in every area.”

“It’s not only the aerodynamics. When we think about Adrian, it is all aero performance; I think Adrian has a much wider view of how the team should operate, so we all learn from him every time that we speak with him.”

Fernando Alonso also gave an estimate about the timeline for him deciding his next career decision in Formula 1. Alonso’s current focus is on improving the car and getting better results in order to further the progress for their design next season. He is going to decide if he wants to continue in sport by summer next year.

Aston Martin F1 sit eighth in the driver standings. It is not all reminiscent of the resources team owner, Lawrence Stroll has been giving to the team in order to increase their standings in Formula 1.
