Formula 1 Rumors- Sergio Perez To Sign With Cadillac F1 While Bottas and Schumacher Battle for Second Seat!

Rumors circulate about Sergio Perez's involvement with Cadillac F1

Cadillac F1 have only a few months left before they race in Formula 1 for the first time. Even though, the team has not confirmed their plans about the driver, pairing there have been many speculations regarding the same. Cadillac F1 and the driver pairing for their debut in the 2026 season is a topic up for debate.

While diehard Formula 1 fans root for Sergio Perez and other Formula 1 drivers, some believe that Cadillac might recruit one of their IndyCar racers. Although, amongst all the stories prevalent in the paddock, there is one driver who has the strongest backing.

Sergio Perez is getting more and more recognition for his F1 career. Checo drove a superb career until his failure with Red Bull Racing in the past two seasons. The fans believe that Checo has almost earned himself a seat in Cadillac F1 to return to Formula 1 racing. A new rumor adds to these speculations.

Sergio Perez Will Be Announced as The First Driver for Cadillac F1 Team

Sergio Checo Perez recently earned the approval of his former Sporting Director at Red Bull, Jonathan Wheatley. Wheatley describes Perez as a driver who drives the entire team forward and pushes them to limits. It seems that Wheatley’s assessment of Perez helped his cause in gaining a set with Cadillac.

According to report from Autoevolution, Sergio Perez is going to sign for Cadillac F1 after the Hungarian Grand Prix 2025. He is also going to bring a huge financial backing with him to help the team. The report suggests that Mexican businessman Carlos Slim will be a part of the deal.

Further, the site discusses that the second seat may not go to any of the IndyCar drivers. Instead, it is going to be a hard fought battle between former Formula 1 drivers, Valtteri Bottas and Mick Schumacher.

The two drivers do not look equal on paper. Mick Schumacher could not prove himself racing for a back marker team. On the other hand, Valtteri has the experience of driving in a world champion team and winning races. However, the key difference is that Mick Schumacher drove a Ferrari powered car in Formula 1.

It may help his resume as Cadillac F1 are also going to use a Ferrari power unit for their debut in F1. Either ways, the announcement should come soon from the team. Meanwhile, we are left to ponder Christian Horner might make a come back with Cadillac F1. The team principal has been linked with some of the current teams but Cadillac would not want to let go of an opportunity to utilise his championship winning experience.
