“Dr**s helped”- Paul George shares two-word advice for teammate Joel Embiid’s injury struggles

Paul George and Joel Embiid had a disappointing game during 76ers' seventh straight loss

Philadelphia 76ers were in action on Saturday, February 22, where they ended up registering their seventh straight loss. Coming on the back of an embarrassing loss against the Celtics, the Sixers went down to the Nets 105-103. The loss pushed them to the 12th spot in the East, taking their tally to 20-36.

The 76ers had both their superstars, Paul George and Joel Embiid in action. However, they failed to perform yet again, leaving fans extremely disappointed. While Paul finished with 15 points, Embiid managed to score only 14 points.

Though the series of losses brought the 76ers under scrutiny, George had a piece of advice for his teammate. After the game, the nine-time All-Star was asked about a few suggestions that he would give to a struggling Embiid from his own experience. The 34-year-old didn’t beat around the bush and recalled his own recovery, stating that ‘Drugs helped’ him.

A reporter asked, “Paul you’ve had to come back from multiple serious injuries, Joel is obviously struggling with multiple parts of his comeback. Is there anything from your experience you think you can pass on to try to help him?”

The 2016 Olympics gold medallist replied, “Drugs helped me. That’s what’s kind of getting me over the hump.”

He went on to say that the best thing that worked for him was going through it, eventually helping the body get used to the physical strain.

“But I mean I get it, especially for how big he is, the size he is, and how he plays. I know it takes a toll on him. I think the best thing for it is reps. Once your body is conditioned, you build a callus for, you know, that constant beating and pounding.”

“So that was the best thing for me, was just kind of playing through it. And you know, eventually your body gets adjusted to it and gets used to it,” George concluded.

Paul George and Joel Embiid’s Injury Struggles

Notably, Paul has had a fair share of injury struggles. After missing the first five season-beginning games with a knee bruise, he was forced to sit for a couple of more games due to the recurrence of the injury. This wasn’t it, later, an injured left pinky finger compelled him to be out of action for five games.

Though he has made his comeback, Paul is still far away from regaining his form. As the 76ers lost to the Nets, he failed to cross the 20-point mark for the eighth consecutive game. Moreover, reports of him taking injections to play through the pain have also surfaced on the internet.

On the other hand, Embiid made his comeback earlier this month after a 15-day injury hiatus.

While he had a remarkable first game, the 30-year-old has found it difficult to get his rhythm back. He is still struggling with the effects of the injured knee. Having played only 19 of 56 76ers games, Embiid has, time and again, felt the need of undergoing another knee surgery to permanently fix the issue
