“GOAT excuse maker”- Fans brutally troll Paul George after scoring just 2 points in 76ers loss to Nets

Paul George had a woeful outing, managing just 2 points on 1-for-7 shooting.

It was a tough day at the office for Paul George and Philadelphia Sixers who went down 100-96 against Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday. With key players like Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, Kyle Lowry, and Eric Gordon out due to injuries, fans were expecting Sixers’ big offseason signing to lead the charge. However, George had a woeful outing, managing just 2 points on 1-for-7 shooting in 36 minutes of play as Sixers suffered their fifth straight defeat. He finished the forgettable night with 2 points, 6 rebounds, four assists.

After the game, George explained his struggles, saying,“They just blitzed me anytime I had the ball. Whether it was pick-and-roll, whether I had it up top, I tried to just counter that with playing through my teammates. We got good shots for the most part. It just wasn’t enough shots made.”

Fans, however, were not sympathetic and took to social media, mocking George for his performance. They criticized him for failing to step up when the team needed him the most, calling him a “GOAT excuse maker.”

The 34-year-old, who made a high-profile move to Philadelphia from Los Angeles Clippers this offseason, has failed to live up to the expectations so far. He has already missed 19 games this season due to injuries and is averaging 16.1 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 4.4 assists in 35 games he has played.

The Sixers will now return to home to host defending champions Boston Celtics on February 20 at the Wells Fargo Center.
