In what is being considered as one of the worst and most shocking slides in the history of the NFL draft, former Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders remains undrafted through 3 rounds of selections. Several experts of the game, media personalities, and fans are left pondering what is going on with the son of Pro Football Hall of Fame enshrinee Deion Sanders and his current situation.

Touted highly as a first-round draft pick with a projection as high as the number one overall pick at one point in time, Sanders’ extravagant slide has the whole nation interested. The news is making so many headlines that now even the President of the United States, Donald J. Trump, has chimed in offering support to the 23-year-old.

“What is wrong with NFL owners, are they STUPID?”

Trump’s opinion on the matter was rather evident through his post on social media in which he backed the talent of not only Shedeur, but also his father Deion Sanders as a player and coach. Moreover, Trump couldn’t resist himself as he urged teams to draft the 2024 Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year and Johnny Unitas Golden Arm winner on an immediate basis if they want to win.

Following Sanders’ slide on day 1 of the 2025 NFL draft, few people would have expected this to continue into day 3 of the draft. But now, the event has reached a whole new level, considering that the President has also commented on the matter at hand.

Why Is Shedeur Sanders not getting drafted?

There can be a number of reasons as to why Sanders has fallen so far down the order, but everything is just speculation at this point. Some experts are of the opinion that this year’s quarterback class is just not up to the mark, and so teams have passed up on signing them in search of better talent at other positions. And now that Sanders will be seen as a backup, there is no need to use one of their picks from the earlier rounds on him, leading to a further slide.

Others, however, believe that Shedeur’s evaluation by scouts, coaches, and franchise owners is just not high enough, with some even questioning his ability to play at a high level in the NFL. Furthermore, there are various reports mentioning that Sanders feels entitled, given who his father is.
