American football defensive end Jack Sawyer played his college career at the Ohio State University from 2021 to 2024. Sawyer had a breakout senior year with the Buckeyes leading them to the CFP National Championship in 2024. He appeared in all 16 games recording 68 solo and 76 combined tackles for Ohio in 2024.

Appearing in 54 games over four seasons for the Buckeyes, Sawyer registered 68 solo and 144 combined tackles in his college career. Sawyer was named to the second-team All-Big Ten in 2023 and 2024. He graduated with a sports industry degree in December.

Growing up in Pickerington, Ohio, Sawyer was rated as a five-star recruit coming out of high school. Moving to the defensive end position, he finished the his junior year with 58 tackles, 16.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks. He chose the Buckeyes over offers from Michigan, Notre Dame, Penn State, and Oklahoma.

Jack Sawyer put up a prospect grade of 6.32 at the 2925 NFL Combine Event. He is rated to eventually become a starter in the league and put up a total score of 74. Sawyer ranked 12th among all the DEs at the summit.

Having a bold frame, Sawyer is called to be built for power and speed. Using his strong hands and the ability to work through tight spaces, Sawyer can set a strong edge for his release. However, the analysts urge him to get involved quickly as he could miss the functional speed at times.

Jack Sawyer was predicted to be selected in the Round 2/3 of the 2025 NFL Draft. However, the quarterback will have to wait till the third day of the draft to hear his name being called. The The Detroit Lions have emerged as one of the favourites to select him given his attributes.

The San Francisco 49ers could also show interest in Sawyer. It is being said that there were players with higher attributes for Sawyer to fall till the third day of the draft. Despite the unexpected decline, Sawyer continues to be one of the top players at his position heading into the third day. He should find numerous suitors in the fourth or fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
