American football quarterback Shedeur Deon Sanders was drafted as the 144th pick in Round 5 of the 2025 NFL Draft.
Coming in as a surprise as Sanders was projected to be a Round 1 pick, the Texas-born heard his name on the third day of the NFL Draft.

Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award in 2024, he started his career at Jackson State. Sanders appeared in 26 games over two seasons for them. He completed 341 passes for 3,732 yards and 40 touchdowns in 2022. Sanders had a record of 12-1 that year.

Sanders transferred to Colorado State University in 2023. Appearing in 11 games in his debut year, Sanders completed 69.3% of his passes for 27 touchdowns in 2023. Sanders had a breakout senior year as he led the Buffalos to a record of 9-4. He was also named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year in 2024.
