White signed a one-year, $4 million contract with the Eagles this offseason but was released earlier this month.
Devin White, a former Pro Bowl linebacker with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2021, officially joined the Houston Texans on Wednesday.
White had originally signed a one-year, $4 million deal with the Eagles earlier this year but never saw any action on the field before being released this month. After being inactive for the first four games of the season, he missed the fifth game due to personal reasons, which led to his release.

At 26 years old, White was the fifth overall selection in the 2019 NFL Draft and spent five seasons with the Buccaneers before his short stint with the Eagles. In his 2021 Pro Bowl season, he posted 87 solo tackles, 3.5 sacks, and a fumble recovery.
The Texans could use some additional linebacker support as both Azeez Al-Shaair (knee) and Henry To’oTo’o (concussion) are dealing with injuries.
Devin White, now 26, spent his first five NFL seasons with the Buccaneers and earned a spot on the NFL All-Rookie Team in 2019. In 2020, he led Tampa Bay with 140 total tackles (97 solo) during the regular season, along with 9 sacks, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, and 4 passes defended.
Despite missing the wild-card playoff game due to COVID-19, he came back strong in the postseason, leading the Bucs with 38 total tackles (27 solo), 2 fumble recoveries, and 2 interceptions. One of those picks was a key interception of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes during Tampa Bay’s Super Bowl LV win.
Devin White film thread. This will be an interesting one… 1) It doesn't take long to realize what he was with the Bucs. He's an explosive lightning fast blitzer who can get to the QB in a hurry. He has an elite burst over 5 yards that not many linebackers have. pic.twitter.com/AGpkyKsDY4

He earned his first and only Pro Bowl selection in 2021, finishing the season with 128 tackles and 3.5 sacks. The following year, he added 124 tackles and 5.5 sacks to his stats.
Last season, White started 13 games and posted 83 tackles and 2.5 sacks, though he was hampered by foot and groin injuries. He was eventually replaced in the starting lineup by K.J. Britt. Before the season began, White had requested a trade but ultimately played out the final year of his rookie contract under the fifth-year option.

I write about sports because, well, it brings in the big bucks! I’m not some lifelong analyst or stats guru, truth being told, you've probably never heard of me!—I just know how to research, write, and make things sound good. That’s the job!
Got into sports media the same way most people do: by (fortunate) accident. Started with SEO writing, took on a few sports gigs, and now here we are! I cover games, trades, player drama—whatever needs words.
Favorite part? The chaos. One day it's a blockbuster trade, the next it's a goat running onto the field. Never boring.
