Both Oleksandr Usyk as well as Daniel Dubois are veteran champions in the boxing world. However, their last contest on August 26, 2023 was a setback for the latter. Oleksandr Usyk presently serves as the Unified Heavyweight Champion in the bixuibg World. On the other hand, Daniel Dubois has been the IBF World Heavyweight Champion since 2024. The two of them met at Wembley Stadium to discuss the rematch on April 28, 2025. This is where things got a bit problematic for the two. Daniel Dubois and Oleksandr Usyk started at each other before the former shoved the latter. Usyk reacted immediately by getting into his fighting stance. However, the security quickly interfered to prevent things from getting more extreme. Queensberry Promotions put the whole video on their official Instagram account. Even Daniel Dubois also shared it on his Instagram account.
This act was done to promote the upcoming rematch for the Undisputed Heavyweight Championship of the World between the two on July 19, 2025. Notably, Daniel Dubois has been dissatisfied with how their last encounter ended in 2023. He revealed (via Yahoo! Sports)-
“This is the fight I wanted and demanded and now I get my chance for revenge against Oleksandr Usyk.”
However, boxing fans have mostly made fun of Daniel Dubois for his actions during this pre-match meeting as per The Sun (UK Edition).
Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois’ first bout happened on August 26, 2023. The fight went in favor of the former as he retained his WBA, IBO, IBF, WBO and Ring Heavyweight Championships in the ninth round due to referee stopping the fight.
Unfortunately, for Daniel Dubois, him dropping Oleksandr Usyk with a punch in the fifth round was declared as a low-blow by Luis Pabon, the referee of the fight. Daniel Dubois and his promoter Frank Warren appealed to the WBA to change the decision of the fight to a no-contest, but they were denied. Hence Daniel Dubois lost the fight.
The upcoming rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois on July 19, 2025, has provided the latter his chance for revenge. It might also make him the new Undisputed Heavyweight Champion of the World.
