“Definitely July, a big fight in July against Usyk. That’s what I want. There’s talks, negotiations happening behind the scenes, the two teams are going back and forth…I’m just doing my job as a fighter and staying ready,” Dubois told The Ring.

There is also the unexpected wildcard of Derek Chisora looming on the horizon. The veteran fighter is ranked No. 2 by the IBF and will be named as Dubois’ mandatory challenger on April 22. While the IBF would grant an exception for an undisputed fight with Usyk, Chisora could be next if that falls through. The coming weeks should reveal whether Dubois gets his wish for the ultimate redemption story against Usyk, or if boxing politics send him in another direction.
