Cory Sandhagen has been on cloud nine since his last win against Deiveson Figueiredo at UFC Fight Night on May 3, 2025. However, Bo Nickal is another UFC fighter who was not so successful at the event.
Bo Nickal had been on a seven fight undefeated streak till UFC Fight Night on May 3, 2025. All that came crashing down in the form of Reinier de Ridder in his last fight. Bo Nickal has received severe backlash from the UFC fans. Now, Cory Sandhagen has shared his opinion on the backlash that this relative newcomer has been facing since his last fight.
Cory Sandhagen more recently appeared on The Ariel Helwani Show. There, he was questioned about Bo Nickal and the backlash that he has been facing since his loss. Sandhagen however, replied that he does not feel sorry for Bo Nickal and the backlash he’s getting. He stated –
“I don’t ever feel bad for guys who make big claims and then gert sh*t on for it. Bo was talking a lot, so it’s a little bit of karma. You don’t get to talk like that and then perform like that.”
However, Cory Sandhagen also left a positive note for Bo Nickal that he believes Bo Nickal can bounce back from his first pro loss. Verdict MMA App posted his comments on their official Instagram post.
Notably, Bo Nickal has made several significant claims in his UFC career so far. He stated that he was three fights away from a Middleweight title after his win against Val Woodburn as per Yahoo! Sports. He also urged bettors to bet on himself. He even claimed that he can “rag-doll” Khamzat Chimaev if they ever fought after UFC 300 as per Bloody Elbow. All these “big talks” led Cory Sandhagen to make his comments on Bo Nickal.
However, Bo Nickal has also been defended fron the backlash by his coach Mike Brown and his last opponent Reinier de Ridder. de Ridder revealed that he woukd enjoy training with Bo Nickal. Moreover, he also seemed positive that Bo Nickal will overcome this loss and become an absolute killer in three years, as per MMA Fighting.
Cory Sandhagen put on one of the best fights of his UFC career in his last last fight on May 3, 2025. His opponent was Deiveson Figueiredo in the fight. However, their war lasted only two rounds. Sandhagen completely dominated Figueiredo throughout their time and finally finished him off via KO/TKO as per the UFC official site. He got his third Performance of the Night bonus from the fight and also asked for a title match in the future.
Cory Sandhagen and Bo Nickal are both waiting for their next opponents inside the Octagon inside the UFC. Only time will reveal where their UFC journey will be taking them down the road.
