Melbourne remains the only unconquered Grand Slam territory for Alcaraz.
World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz may have just completed a successful 2025 campaign, but he has already outlined some clear goals for the next year. The 22-year-old won eight trophies this year – including two majors at the French Open and US Open. But in the upcoming season, Alcaraz wishes to capture the elusive Australian Open crown, and become a Calendar Grand Slam champion.
Currently a six-time winner at the majors, Alcaraz has won two titles each at the French Open, Wimbledon and US Open. Provided the Spaniard can succeed in Melbourne Park, he would become the youngest male player to win all four Grand Slam titles. He ended the ongoing season with a win-loss record of 71-9, and over $18 million added to his career prize money.
In a recent virtual interview with Tennis Channel, Alcaraz provided an update on his designated goals for 2026. “It is a really good goal for me, [to] complete the Calendar Grand Slam. I’m really looking forward to win [in] Australia one day and I’m really excited about it.
Always chasing records 🏆

“The good part about it is that it’s the first Grand Slam. We start, or I would say that I start the season straightaway by playing a Grand Slam, which could be tricky with not much rhythm at all. No competition rhythm let’s say, but I’m looking forward to it.”
“He’s the best player in the world for a reason and he’s also a great guy.” 🫶

Alcaraz’s last title came at the end of September, when he defeated Taylor Fritz in the final of the Japan Open. Since then, Carlitos was defeated in the final of the Six Kings Slam in Riyadh, before losing his opener in the Paris Masters at the hands of Cameron Norrie. Alcaraz ended his season with another runner-up trophy at the season-ending Nitto ATP Finals 2025.
Can Carlos Alcaraz dethrone his biggest rival Jannik Sinner to lift the 2026 Australian Open title in Melbourne? Only time will tell.
