CM Punk defeated Jey Uso tonight at SNME to become the new World Heavyweight Champion. The “Best in the World” is back on top again as the vacant title now has a new owner. This is his second World Heavyweight Championship victory. His first title reign was cut short to five minutes when Seth Rollins cashed in his MITB contract to steal the World Heavyweight championship from him.
A physically and mentally grueling contest between Jey Uso and CM Punk was necessitated after Seth Rollins suffered an unfortunate injury and had to relinquish his title. Jey Uso and CM Punk both won the World Heavyweight Championship once before this match and put their hearts and bodies out inside the ring to win it for the second time.
The 21-minute bout was nothing short of a masterclass with both superstars trading their signature moves. Jey Uso was relentless and capitalized on every opportunity he received by delivering Superkicks, followed by Spear and Uso Splash, almost securing a victory. CM Punk, however, made sure it ended in a near-fall only.
The battle intensified, and a frantic sequence of finisher reversals kept the crowd going. Jey Uso delivered a GTS to CM Punk for a nearfall, and CM Punk immediately speared Jey Uso for a two-count. Jey Uso then locked CM Punk in a Sleeper Hold, a move that won him the World Heavyweight Title for the first time at WrestleMania, but CM Punk countered it with an Anaconda Vice. Jey Uso grabbed the rope.
CM Punk ducked a Superkick and, in a breathtaking display of persistence, connected his signature GTS. CM Punk immediately hauled him up for a second GTS after Jey Uso staggered off the ropes. Two back-to-back GTS sealed the fate of Yeet Master. CM Punk secured a pinfall victory over him at SNME.
This victory marks the second World Heavyweight Championship reign for him since his return to WWE. He has finally achieved the long-term goal that eluded him since the beginning of this year. The crowd erupted as they saw their favorite superstar win the title. WWE Raw will officially usher in CM Punk’s era now that he is the champion.
