Christian Horner is Ready to “Become Unpopular” After Winning!

Christian Horner and Red Bull Racing are facing some deep troubles in 2025. It can easily turn out as one of their most difficult seasons in Formula 1 yet. To sum up their problems, Red Bull Racing is losing on every end. They lost one of the best Formula 1 designers. They are no longer fast enough to compete for the championship. And lastly, they do not even have a reliable second driver to help their championship chances.

Christian Horner has a lot to take care of the in the 2025 season. But, there is something he would rather not try to fix. Red Bull Racing is one of the most controversial teams. They have gained a lot of unpopularity over the recent years. Their driver management fiasco has certainly contributed to the same negatively. But Horner feels no need to address this unpopularity.

Christian Horner Finds No Need to Bother About Popularity

In the recent years, F1 is rapidly changing. The fanbase new and younger fans who are introduced to the sport via Drive to Survive and Social Media. In this era of social media, even small news turns big if it catches the attention of the fans. Christian Horner has been the center of attention in many such news in the F1 paddock.

Last year, Horner was facing serious accusations and his job was at risk. Recently, he was facing another load of rumors about potential talks with Ferrari. Now, even Sergio Perez came forward to rebuke Red Bull Racing for the lack of support he was shown in the team previously. Horner has not responded to the comments from Sergio Perez yet. However, he did speak up regarding his and the team’s image in Formula 1.

“Inevitably, you’re not going to be able to please everybody. Things get played out in the media and so on. But I’ve always been the same person. But sometimes that makes you unpopular with your rivals. The best way to become unpopular in this business is to win, and we’ve done a fair amount of that over the last few years.”

Christian Horner also put forward the issue of bias in Formula 1. Red Bull Racing is based in Austria. They haven’t raced with a British driver since David Coulthard. Horner thinks this is also a prevalent factor in determining their team’s popularity. He hints that he would rather win than sign a British driver for the sake of becoming the favorite.
