Luis Enrique Clashes With Joao Pedro As Chelsea Lift Trophy After 3–0 Win.

Chelsea’s emphatic 3-0 win over Paris Saint-Germain in the FIFA Club World Cup final became tainted very quickly when a heated post-match altercation began. The drama unfolded at MetLife Stadium as tensions between players and staff escalated in the aftermath of Chelsea’s historic win.

The Blues won the trophy credit to a Cole Palmer brace and a clinical finish from Joao Pedro. They added a second trophy to their cabinet this season following their UEFA Conference League success. However, the scenes were briefly interrupted as tempers flared between the two European heavyweights.

Luis Enrique and Gianluigi Donnarumma Spark Ugly Scenes

As Chelsea’s squad began celebrating their win against PSG and the Club World Cup win, PSG manager Luis Enrique became embroiled in a physical confrontation with Pedro. As per visuals from the incident, Enrique appeared to shove Chelsea forward in the face.

It seemed to have occurred after Pedro exchanged some words with PSG defender Achraf Hakimi and goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. The situation escalated quickly, with Pedro falling to the ground as more players joined the melee. PSG’s Donnarumma was also visibly agitated.

He confronted Chelsea players before Enzo Maresca intervened to calm tensions. Coaches and officials from both sides stepped in to separate the individuals involved. It didn’t last long and focus shifted to celebration as. Palmer said, “It’s a great feeling. Even better because obviously everyone doubted us before the game.”

Joao Neves Sent Off as PSG Lose Composure

Earlier, PSG’s frustrations were evident when Joao Neves was sent off in the 85th minute for pulling Marc Cucurella’s hair after a VAR check. The Parisians struggled to match Chelsea’s intensity throughout the match. Especially considering they entered the final as heavy favourites after their treble-winning campaign.

Palmer’s decisive left-footed strikes and Pedro’s composed chip over Donnarumma gave Chelsea an unassailable lead by half-time. Maresca praised his team’s mentality, stating, “For me, we won the game in the first 10 minutes. We set the tempo and pressed them brilliantly.”

As the post-match presentation began, the clashes gradually subsided. This allowed Chelsea players to celebrate with their fans and they even gave the PSG players a guard of honour later. They then lifted the trophy in front of dignitaries including FIFA president Gianni Infantino and former U.S. president Donald Trump.
