Charles Leclerc Apologises to Team After His FP1 Crash!

Rohan Singh

Charles Leclerc crashed out during the Canadian Grand Prix FP1 session!

The Canadian Grand Prix weekend is underway in Montreal this weekend. The first two free practice sessions came to a conclusion on Friday. Charles Leclerc found himself in the wall during his first run in the free practice. He sent his car spinning into the wall at Turn 3. Leclerc was unharmed but the same could not be said for his car.

Charles Leclerc had to miss Free Practice 2 later on this Friday. His car’s chassis sustained damage and Ferrari had to change the survival cell in his car. Leclerc came back after a succesful outing in Spain claiming a third pace finish. He will take part in the Free Practice 3 session on Saturday but he will have to be careful about not spinning his car out. If Leclerc manages to damage his Ferrari critically again, his qualifying and race will be jeopardy.

Charles Leclerc Calls His Crash a “Stupid” Mistake

Speaking about his crash, Leclerc called it a misjudgement on his part. He was quick during his early runs in the FP1 session. After ending his Friday with just nine laps of mileage, Charles Leclerc felt sorry for the whole team.

It is know that Leclerc is leading Ferrari’s campaign in 2025. Any significant damage or lack of pace to his car will put Ferrari in a difficult situation during the Canadian GP.

“It was a very stupid crash – I had a lock-up, I thought I would make the corner… I knew I would go in the grass, but I thought that was enough to not touch the wall. Unfortunately, when I then ended up in the grass, I understood that there was no room anymore.

“It’s just a misjudgment, but a misjudgment that cost a lot. The way the wheel has touched the chassis basically cracked the chassis, and we cannot use two chassis on the same day, so that meant basically the whole day not in the car.”

But a positive feedback followed from the Monegasque. Leclerc is confident in his Ferrari. He was feeling incredibly competitive during the session. Even though, he is going to have only one hour of preparation going into the weekend, he is sure that he can give his 100%.

However, confidence was absent from his teammate. Lewis Hamilton is still troubled with his SF25. His verdict after the FP1 and FP2 sessions is that it will a challenge to put his car in Q3 on Saturday.
