Eight teams will come back to the UEFA Champions League knockout playoff second legs on February 24, 2026. Some hold massive advantages while some will need to fight hard to qualify for the Round of 16. Club Brugge held Atletico Madrid to a compelling 3-3 draw in the first leg. Now, they’ll aim for the almost impossible – to get the better of Atleti at Metropolitano.
Bodo/Glimt surprised everyone when they defeated Serie A leaders Inter Milan 3-1 in the first leg. Now, they will travel to San Siro determined to keep that lead and not fumble under the pressure in Milan. Meanwhile, Newcastle United had a field day when they netted six against Qarabag in the first leg. They will be pretty comfortable as they welcome the Azerbaijan side at St. James park today.

The two teams are coming into this fixture with their slate clean after a 3-3 draw in the first leg. So, whoever gets the better of the other team gets to qualify for the Round of 16. And that may be tough for Club Brugge to achieve considering they’ll be playing at the Metropolitano, which has been a fortress for Atleti.
Across Atleti’s last 10 competitive matches in all competitions, they have averaged approximately 1.65 xG while conceding just under 1.10 xGA per match. But notably, six of those 10 games saw both sides score. Diego Simeone’s men have been defensively disciplined, but leaky at times. Meanwhile, over their last 10 games, Brugge have generated close to 1.70 xG per game.
They’ve also scored in eight of those fixtures. Their away form has been particularly productive. They’ve netted in four straight matches on the road recently. Atleti’s home record is strong. However, they have conceded in three of their last five at the Metropolitano across all competitions. Considering these factors, it’s easy to assume that both teams will find the back of the net.

Inter Milan have a steep hill to climb to qualify for the Round of 16. Bodo/Glimt pulled a shock of the week when they put three past Inter’s defense last week in the first leg of the play-offs. Now, playing at San Siro the Serie A leaders have the better chance to win this game against the Norwegian side. However, to qualify for the next round, they will have to dominate.
Inter’s last 10 matches across Serie A and Europe show an average of 2.05 xG per game while conceding only 0.95 xGA. Simone Inzaghi’s side have won seven of those 10 fixtures, including five clean sheets. Their home form has been particularly dominant. Whereas, Bodo/Glimt’s domestic dominance in Norway has not translated seamlessly to elite European opposition.
In their last 10 games, they have conceded 1.40 xGA on average and struggled to control tempo on the road. Inter’s recent home record in Europe includes wins against technically proficient sides. Hence, the market expectation with such a short moneyline. While Bodo/Glimt can create chances, the disparity in defense, the squad quality, and the venue suggests the Nerazzurri could get away with the three points.

Newcastle are probably the team who are going into the second leg of the playoffs with the most comfortable demeanor. They pulled a huge 1-6 win against Qarabag FK last week, courtesy of a masterclass from Anthony Gordon who scored four, and two from Malick Thiaw and Jacob Murphy. There is a very little to almost no chance of Qarabag getting a win at St. James Park, let alone qualifying for the next round.
Newcastle’s last 10 matches have averaged approximately 2.10 xG per game while conceding 1.25 xGA. Seven of those games finished with at least three total goals. Qarabag FK have shown resilience in European competition. They’ve scored in seven of their last 10 outings. They’re also averaging around 1.60 xG during that stretch.
However, they have also conceded 1.45 xGA on average. Their away fixtures have frequently become stretched contests. Hence, the price for over 2.5 goals seems justified. Newcastle’s home matches in Europe this season have consistently exceeded this threshold. And Qarabag may get a goal or two again, determined to make a mark even if they don’t qualify.
