Casper Ruud vs. Daniil Medvedev Prediction

Medvedev’s 2025 season has been a mix of strong performances and inconsistency. He suffered a second-round exit at the Australian Open, reached the round of 16 at ATP Rotterdam, and made the semifinals in Marseille. He followed that with back-to-back quarterfinal appearances at the Qatar Open and Dubai Tennis Championships. Medvedev looked sharp at Indian Wells, advancing to the semifinals, but his momentum dipped with early exits before the quarterfinals in both Miami and Monte Carlo.

Meanwhile, Ruud, after an early-round exit in Melbourne, produced his best result at the Dallas Open, reaching the final before falling to Denis Shapovalov in straight sets. His form dipped afterward, with no runs past the round of 16 until the Barcelona Open. He made it to the quarterfinals before losing to Holger Rune in straight sets. However, his Madrid Open run makes it seem like his form may be rebounding.

Notably, Ruud is renowned for his strength on clay, having won 11 of his 12 career ATP titles on the surface and reaching back-to-back French Open finals in 2022 and 2023. Medvedev, known primarily for his dominance on hard courts, has developed into a strong, well-rounded player and can be dangerous on clay. Still, given Ruud’s clay-court history and the motivation to secure his first win against Medvedev, the Norwegian has the upper hand in this matchup.
