Carlos Alcaraz ‘Excited’ for Wimbledon Revenge Against Jannik Sinner in the Cincinnati Open 2025 Final

14th career meeting between the world’s two best players.

Five-time Grand Slam champion Carlos Alcaraz has made his intentions clear ahead of the 2025 Cincinnati Open final vs top seed and World No. 1 Jannik Sinner. The Spaniard, who lost to Sinner in the final of Wimbledon last month, will be looking to complete his redemption arc and inch closer to the No. 1 ranking ahead of the US Open. Ahead of the Cincy final, Alcaraz has admitted that he is ready for the challenge.

On Saturday, Alcaraz defeated an ailing Zverev in the final four stage. He had to save two break points early on in the opener, before producing his best tennis when it mattered most. In the process, the 22-year-old reached his seventh consecutive summit clash on tour. On the other hand, Sinner has reached at least the final at five out of six tournaments in 2025. He will contend a title decider against his Spanish counterpart for the fourth time in a row.

Carlos Alcaraz Talks About Cincinnati Final vs Sinner

Ahead of the Cincinnati Open final, ‘Carlitos’ leads the head-to-head against Sinner by 8-5. It is a rivalry that has slowly but surely evolved into the biggest talking point of the sport. After a heartbreaking loss in the 2025 Roland Garros final, the World No. 1 dethroned Alcaraz at the All England Club in July. Speaking about the mouth-watering contest on Saturday, Alcaraz previewed the match in his press conference.

“I’m excited about it, it’s going to be great,” said the reigning Roland Garros champ. “He won the last one, I won the first two finals; so I think it’s going to be really interesting… If I’m not wrong, it is the first final on a hard court. So I’m excited about taking [up] that challenge.” While it isn’t their first final on hard courts, Alcaraz will be happy to know that he won their previous three set epic in the Beijing 2024 final.

“I know that Jannik [Sinner] is without a doubt the best player in the world on hard courts. And probably on every surface right now. So it’s going to be a really great match – I have to be ready for that – seeing what I did wrong in the last match. I will try to make it better on Monday. I’m glad to be in another final, I think it’s my seventh in a row and fourth against Jannik, so it’s going to be a great day.”
