Ever since he was defeated by Holger Rune in the final of the 2025 Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell, Carlos Alcaraz entered his demon era. The Spaniard has gone on an unbreakable streak of victories, and a title retention at Wimbledon would take it up to 25 consecutive wins. Alcaraz started the year with a loss to Novak Djokovic in the Australian Open QF. Since then, he has won five championships and one runner-up trophy.
After winning one of the greatest Roland Garros finals in the Open Era, the 22-year-old phenom backed it up by regaining the Queen’s Club title. Ranked No. 2 in the world, Alcaraz has won 46 matches and lost just 5 this year. On grass, he wins 87% service games and converts 47% break points – ranking inside the Top-5 on tour for the same.
Alcaraz has defeated Fabio Fognini, Oliver Tarvet, Jan-Lennard Struff and Andrey Rublev en route to the last eight stage. He has dropped a total of four sets along the way.
British southpaw Cameron Norrie came into Wimbledon with just over 50% success rate in 2025. Yet, this tournament has turned things around for him in the past as well. Within the first two months of the year, the 29-year-old reached quarterfinals in Hong Kong and Delray Beach. After an abysmal American and European swing, the Geneva Open helped him snap out of the rut he was going through.
Norrie reached the semifinal at the Swiss event, before accomplishing a Round of 16 finish at Roland Garros – losing to Novak Djokovic both times. Despite coming into Wimbledon without a grass court victory, the left-handed maestro took little time to adjust to the courts at All England Club. He is serving around 70% first serves so far, and getting extra revs on his powerful forehand.
Norrie overcame Roberto Bautista Agut, Frances Tiafoe, Mattia Bellucci and Nicolas Jarry to enter the quarterfinals. Like his Spanish counterpart, he has dropped a total of four sets until Tuesday.
Carlos Alcaraz has a superior 4-2 head-to-head record against Cameron Norrie. It is a rivalry that originated in 2021, with the former World No. 1 dominating most of the matches. However, Norrie has won two out of the last three contests between the two powerhouses.
Alcaraz won the first two matches vs Norrie without dropping a set – at the 2021 US Open and 2022 Indian Wells. Later in 2022, the duo clashed in the Madrid Masters pre-quarterfinals, where the Spaniard triumphed 6-4 6-7(4) 6-3. Norrie’s two wins came at the 2022 Cincinnati Masters where he attained a thrilling 7-6(4) 6-7(4) 6-4 victory, and in the final of Rio in 2023 – the score was 5-7 6-4 7-5.
We can’t wait for this one 🍿
