Defending champ, Carlos Alcaraz, moves one win away from a Wimbledon hat trick.
Carlos Alcaraz is heading back to the Wimbledon final. The 22-year-old got past a determined Taylor Fritz in four sets on Friday, winning 6-4, 5-7, 6-3, 7-6(6) to keep his title defense alive. With the win, Alcaraz extended his unbeaten run at the All England Club to 20 matches and remains on track to lift his third straight Wimbledon trophy.

The match had its swings. Alcaraz looked sharp in the early stages, holding serve comfortably and landing big first serves. He took the opening set without much fuss, but Fritz responded well. The American found his rhythm in the second, breaking late to take the set and level things up, showing just how dangerous he can be when his shots are clicking.
In the third, Alcaraz shifted the momentum. He managed a crucial break and kept his composure, mixing up pace and angles to frustrate Fritz. Despite some patchy moments, including a stretch where Fritz won nine points in a row, Alcaraz stayed steady and took the set to move in front.

The fourth set was tight from start to finish. Fritz, dealing with a sore elbow, didn’t let up, and the two went toe-to-toe until the very end. It all came down to a tense tiebreak, where Alcaraz’s calm under pressure made the difference. He edged it 8-6 to seal the win and reach his third Wimbledon final in a row.
Statistically, the battle was razor-thin. Fritz fired 19 aces to Alcaraz’s 13, and both posted strong serving numbers with 65% first serves in for Alcaraz and 61% for Fritz. The Spaniard converted 3 of 7 break points, just enough to tilt the margin in his favor, while also racking up 122 total points to Fritz’s 112.

I understood those voices aren’t noise; they’re emotions of true sports fans, and now I am one of them, writing with the same energy I once questioned.
