Cameron Brink knows how to handle her trolls!
Los Angeles Sparks forward Cameron Brink came up with a befitting reply to a troll who questioned her recovery and comeback. Brink took to social media and hit back at the hater who suggested that Brink would have been back on the court by now if she had worked equally hard for her recovery as she does for red carpets. Notably, Brink, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, has been out of action for almost one full calendar year.
Since the date of Brink’s return remains under covers, one fan trolled her for not doing enough to recover soon. Trolling the Stanford alum, they said that if Brink “put as much work into rehab as she puts into walking down red carpets and schmoozing, she’d be back by now.” However, the Princeton-born didn’t hold herself back and replied to the troll stating that she has been “working Incredibly hard every day.”
She added, “I would give anything to be out on the court right now. Basketball is my passion and everything to me…to say this you aren’t a real fan. Thank you to those who understand ACLs can take a year & giving me the grace. I cannot wait until I get to play again.”
Brink suffered a torn ACL and meniscus in her left knee on June 18, 2024 during the Sparks’ loss to the Connecticut Sun. She had to be carried off the court, and has not laced up since then. The 23-year-old played only 15 games in her rookie season, where she averaged 7.5 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.7 assists per contest. While it has been a year and her absence has turned out to be a big loss for the Sparks this season, there is no confirmation about her return to the court.
It’s been almost a year since Brink last suited up for the LA Sparks. While ACL injuries take a long duration of time to repair, there has been no update about Brink’s return who is currently in her sophomore year. Los Angeles’ coach Lynne Roberts also talked to the media a few days ago and shared an update on her comeback. Roberts said that no date has been finalized for Brink’s return. She added that while the 2021 NCAA Champion has progressed to on-court work, she is still doing non-contact details.
Talking about the Sparks, the Los Angeles-based franchise began its 2025 campaign with a blowout victory over the Golden State Valkyries. However, they couldn’t keep up the momentum and fell to the Minnesota Lynx, Mercury Phoenix, and Valkyries. Since the beginning of the season, they have played ten games, but have been able to win only three games so far. The Sparks are seeded in the tenth spot on the standings with winning percentage of .300.
