Manchester United’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium was not short of drama. But the late twist no one wanted came when striker Benjamin Sesko left the pitch clutching his knee. The Slovenian forward was brought on as a second-half substitute.
He suffered an untimely injury that has now left manager Ruben Amorim concerned about the severity. Man United looked poised for a statement away win after Bryan Mbeumo’s early header put them in front. Yet, a frantic final stretch saw a line of drama for the Red Devils.

The team lost Harry Maguire to a hamstring scare, conceded twice, and watched Sesko limp off after a heavy collision with Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven. With no substitutions remaining, Man United even had to finish the game with ten men.
Amorim’s side fought to salvage a point through Matthijs de Ligt’s stoppage-time header. Speaking after the match, Amorim revealed his unease about Sesko’s condition. The coach said, “We have to check, he had something in his knee. We have to see because it’s the knee we never know. We need Ben to be a better team.”

Amorim’s cautious tone suggested that United’s £71 million summer signing could face an uncertain spell on the sidelines. Initial assessments point to a potential knee strain. But the club is awaiting scan results to confirm the extent of the damage. Minor injuries of this kind could see Sesko out for one to three weeks.
However, more serious grades could sideline him for up to two months. It could go on longer if structural damage is found. The 21-year-old is expected to undergo a full medical evaluation at Carrington before an official statement is released. The timing couldn’t be worse for Man United.

Sesko is still adapting to life in England. He had scored twice this season and was beginning to show flashes of the predatory instinct that earned him his big-money move. His absence could force Amorim to reassess his attacking setup. Especially with Joshua Zirkzee’s future uncertain.
Matheus Cunha is also struggling to fit as a lone striker. For now, Sesko’s availability for Slovenia’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers and Man United’s next Premier League clash against Everton remains in serious doubt. The manager will have to wait for the scans and hope the damage isn’t as bad as feared.
