Baltimore Ravens Have Re-Signed Head Coach John Harbaugh to a Three-Year Extension

John Harbaugh, the second-longest tenured NFL coach, has signed a three-year extension with the Baltimore Ravens, securing his position through 2028. The announcement came on Friday, ensuring the 62-year old is still taken care of, as he entered the the final year of his previous deal in 2025. Ravens’ owner Steve Bisciotti prioritized the extension and even praised coach Harbaugh for his consistency and adaptability.

Since taking over in 2008, Harbaugh has led the Ravens to a 172-104 regular season record and a 13-11 postseason mark, which includes a Super Bowl XLVII win against his brother Jim’s 49ers. Only Pittsburgh’s Mike Tomlin has coached longer, being in a single team.

Harbaugh’s Success With the Ravens

Harbaugh has been with the Ravens for the last 17 years and he has helped the Ravens make 12 playoff appearances, with just two losing season. His team has reached four AFC championship games and advanced to the divisional round 10 times.

Despite the success, critics point towards the lack of playoff success since he has a 4-7 postseason record since the 2013 Super Bowl. Under his leadership the Ravens always finish the regular season extremely well, but the playoffs, not so much. Harbaugh downplayed contract talks earlier as he was confident that those things would resolve on its own, naturally.

Harbaugh Has Helped Some of His Players Blossom Into Superstars

Harbaugh’s coaching has been instrumental for the success of the Ravens and their ability to turn players into superstars. His keen eye for talent and shined throughout the years as he helped quarterback Lamar Jackson turn into a star. Jackson went from a raw talent to a two-time MVP thanks to Harbaugh and the Ravens.

Harbaugh’s faith in LB Ray Lewis extended his hall of fame legacy and he also helped safety Ed Reed maximize his potential in the NFL. It is clear that Harbaugh knows what he’s doing.

Entering his 18th season, Harbaugh leads a 2025 Ravens squad poised as one of the favorites. With QB Lamar Jackson and the rest of the crew, he hopes to defeat Kansas, like we saw the Eagles do in the Super Bowl, and finally get over the hump. Coach Harbaugh’s signing adds more stability to an already elite team, and we’ll see what they’ll do come 2025 NFL season.
