ATP National Bank Open 2025 Quarterfinal Schedule – Who Faces Whom in the Last Eight?

Sankalp Harikrishnan

Defending Champ, World No. 3, 2023 Runner-Up and More Take Centre Stage.

The 2025 National Bank Open in Canada has reached the climax stage of the event. On the men’s side, eight remain in contention for the coveted crown in Toronto. Defending champion Alexei Popyrin is still on course for back-to-back championship runs. However, he will face stiff opposition as every player left in the draw is seeded. Let’s take a look at the men’s quarterfinals at the Canadian Open 2025:

Alexander Zverev (1) vs Alexei Popyrin (18)

World No. 3 Alexander Zverev is playing his first event since training with Rafael Nadal and uncle Toni in Mallorca. The German took a much-needed break after losing in Round-1 at Wimbledon, but he has managed to bounce back effortlessly. On the other side of the net, will be 2024 Canadian Open champ Alexei Popyrin. The Australian has beaten top players like Medvedev and Rune en route to the last eight stage.

When: Monday, August 4 (Not Before 7PM Local)

Where: Centre Court – Sobeys Stadium, Toronto.

Karen Khachanov (11) vs Alex Michelsen (26)

Perhaps a quarterfinal clash that not many people would have predicted, Tokyo Olympics silver medalist Karen Khachanov takes on rising American starlet Alex Michelsen on Monday night. The 11th seed hasn’t faced too many hurdles up until the quarterfinal stage, earning himself a comfortable win over Ruud in the R16. Meanwhile, Michelsen’s biggest win came in the R32 against No. 3 seed Musetti.

When: Monday, August 4 (Around 9PM Local Estimated)

Where: Centre Court – Sobeys Stadium, Toronto.

Taylor Fritz (2) vs Andrey Rublev (6)

Second seed Taylor Fritz came through a nail-biting encounter against Jiri Lehecka in the pre-quarters, enabling him to book a spot vs Andrey Rublev in the last eight stage. The American required three tiebreak sets to emerge victorious on Sunday night. It will be a battle of power and precision, as 27-year-old Rublev has been striking the ball fearlessly in Toronto so far. The Russian has defeated Gaston, Sonego and Davidovich Fokina en route to Tuesday’s battle.

When: Tuesday, August 5

Where: Centre Court – Sobeys Stadium, Toronto.

Ben Shelton (4) vs Alex de Minaur (9)

Two players who had to go through tense affairs to enter this stage, Ben Shelton and Alex de Minaur will square off for the first time in their careers on Canadian shores. The two stars have contrasting styles, and a lot will depend on who can execute their game plan to the best of their abilities. While the American has beaten the likes of Cobolli and Nakashima so far, this will be his toughest test by a distance. Yet, ‘The Demon’ can capitalise on the fact that Shelton is also playing the doubles quarterfinals, which could lead to fatigue.
