World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka has officially sealed her royalty status in the WTA circuit, as the Belarusian became the woman to earn the highest prize money in a single season. She captured the most titles (4) on the women’s tour this year, and added a mammoth $15+ million to her purse in the process. Having overhauled the likes of Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova, Sabalenka is also No. 2 on the all-time list.

In 2025, Sabalenka won trophies at the Brisbane International, Miami Open, Madrid Open and the US Open. In addition to this, the 27-year-old finished as the runner-up in Melbourne, Indian Wells, Stuttgart, Roland Garros and the WTA Finals in Riyadh. Apart from this, she made three other semifinals and two quarterfinals to cement her dominance.
Currently a four-time Grand Slam champion, Sabalenka’s exact prize money earning for 2025 stands at $15,008,519 – the highest in a single season. The previous record belonged to Serena Williams, who amassed $12,385,572 in 2013. With a career prize money of $45,175,621, Sabalenka only trails Williams ($94,816,730) in terms of on-court salary on the WTA Tour. Meanwhile, Iga Swiatek is in third place with $43,640,490.

While the Belarusian powerhouse led the charge, it was a year of highs for the women’s division even outside of the top seed. The 2025 season was the first year in WTA history wherein two women surpassed the $10 million mark in prize money earnings. And former Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina grabbed the single biggest one-time payout at an event by winning $5,235,000 for claiming the WTA Finals 2025 championship in Saudi Arabia without dropping a set.
