Anthony Richardson will make his comeback as QB1 as the Colts have decided to bench veteran QB Joe Flacco. The Colts HC Shane Steichen announced on Wednesday that the team will go back to Richardson for the game vs. the Jets. He also confirmed that the Colts will stick with Richardson as their starting QB for the rest of the season.
Joe Flacco started the last 2 games but the Colts lost both of them. Flacco, who is playing in his 17th season, threw 4 interceptions and 2 fumbles in the games vs. the Vikings and the Bills. Anthony Richardson was benched by the Colts after the week 8 game vs. the Texans, where he came out for 1 play because he “was tired.”
Coach Steichen told the media that it was his decision to bring Richardson back. Adding further, the Colts HC said that he is pleased with Richardson’s progress in the last two weeks.

After an embarrassing exit from the game vs. the Texans, Anthony Richardson was benched. But the fourth overall pick from the 2023 NFL draft has chosen to look at the brighter side of things.
Just to show that I am willing to be a pro, sacrifice anything I need to do for the team. I feel like the past 2 weeks definitely opened my eyes, just to take a deeper dive and look into myself. I am low-key glad they happened.
The former Florida Gators QB will be back in action for week 11 Sunday Night Football vs. the New York Jets (3-7).

In the 2024 NFL season through week 10, Anthony Richardson has started for the Colts in 6 games. He holds a win-loss record of 3-3 in those games but the other stats are not in his favor.
Richardson has 958 passing yards for 4 touchdowns, but his throw has been picked 7 times. He has 242 rushing yards for 1 touchdown and was sacked 9 times while attempting to rush. He also has the worst completion percentage this season at a mere 44.4% among all the active quarterbacks.
The Colts are 4-6 through week 10 and have 7 games remaining, with a bye-week for week 14. Mathematically, they can still make it to the postseason by winning most of their remaining games. The games against the Detroit Lions and the Denver Broncos will be the games to watch out for.
