Alexa Grasso is set to face Natalia Silva in a flyweight clash at UFC 315 on May 10, taking place at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec. The bout is part of the main card, which also features a welterweight title fight between Belal Muhammad and Jack Della Maddalena, as well as a women’s flyweight championship showdown between Valentina Shevchenko and Manon Fiorot.

Grasso, the former flyweight champion, is known for her sharp striking and strong takedown defense, becoming the first Mexican woman to win a UFC title. Silva, an explosive striker with a Taekwondo base, is riding a 12-fight win streak and hasn’t lost since 2017.

Grasso began her career in the strawweight division, making her professional debut in December 2012. She joined Invicta FC in 2014 and signed with the UFC two years later.

Grasso’s UFC debut came against Heather Jo Clark in November 2016, where she earned a unanimous decision victory. Next, she suffered her first professional loss in February 2017, dropping a decision to Felice Herrig. She made the switch to the featherweight division in 2020.

In March 2023, Grasso stunned the MMA world by defeating longtime flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko via face crank submission at UFC 285, capturing the UFC women’s flyweight title as a significant underdog. Their rematch took place in September 2023, ending in a split draw that allowed Grasso to retain her belt. The trilogy concluded at UFC 306 a year later, where Shevchenko reclaimed the title by decision.

Natalia Silva’s MMA Journey

Natalia Miranda Cristina da Silva, better known as Natalia Silva, is currently ranked No. 13 in the UFC women’s flyweight division with a professional record of 18 wins, 5 losses, and 1 draw. The Brazilian began training in taekwondo at the age of 16 before transitioning to mixed martial arts. Her early professional career in 2015 was marked by struggles, losing several bouts due to a lack of grappling skills and overreliance on her striking background. Her lone win during that stretch came against Carolina Oliveira, who was disqualified for illegal elbows.

Silva’s turning point came in 2017 when Jungle Fight offered her a place to live and train, providing her with a fresh start in MMA. She moved up from strawweight to flyweight and captured the Jungle Fight Women’s Flyweight Championship in October 2019 with a submission win over Gabriela Marcal.

Silva signed with the UFC in 2020, but a series of injuries delayed her debut until June 2022, when she defeated Jasmine Jasudavicius by unanimous decision. Since then, she has remained unbeaten in the promotion, extending her winning streak with a high-profile decision win over former champion Jessica Andrade in September 2024, a performance that earned Fight of the Night honors.
