Novak Djokovic Receives Heartwarming Tribute From Lacoste Ahead Of 2025 US Open

Novak Djokovic gets a perfect gift ahead of his pursuit of a record-setting 25th Grand Slam.

The magic of the US Open is spreading in the fashion world. Lacoste, the luxury sportswear giant, has announced a special campaign to honor Novak Djokovic. As the 38-year-old prepares to compete for a record-setting 25th Grand Slam title, Lacoste has decided to change their logo for the Serbian tennis legend. Certainly, it is a huge gesture for the star who has redefined what it means to be a tennis player.

Novak Djokovic Receives a Memorable Gift

Lacoste recently posted a montage of Djokovic’s most iconic moments. With that montage, Lacoste announced that they’re changing their iconic crocodile logo to a G.O.A.T., rather literally. The limited-edition apparel line has been created to celebrate the Djoker’s place as the “Greatest of All Time” in the tennis world. While this is a great gesture, it’s also a bittersweet reminder that we’re in the tail end of an amazing career.

The signs are already there. Djokovic hasn’t played in any tournament since Wimbledon. The 38-year-old is slowly becoming completely focused on that elusive 25th title. That’s why the player who was once known for being fit like a machine has begun limiting his appearances. “I don’t enjoy the two-week Masters tournaments anymore,” Djokovic revealed in his pre-US Open press conference.

However, even then, the star knows his chances of winning one continue to fall with each passing event. In one of his rare vulnerable moments after Wimbledon, Djokovic admitted age is beginning to catch up to him. “It’s tough for me to accept that because I feel like when I’m fresh, when I’m fit, I can still play really good tennis,” Djokovic said. “I’ve proven that this year. But playing best of five, particularly this year, has been a real struggle for me physically.”

On top of that, he has to compete with the duo of Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner (Djokovic has lost twice to Sinner and once to Alcaraz this year). The Djoker has admitted that competing against them is proving to be highly taxing on his body. “I have to play Sinner or Alcaraz. These guys are fit, young, sharp. I feel like I’m going into the match with the tank half empty. It’s just not possible to win a match like that,” Djokovic said.

Still, Djokovic remains perhaps the best hard-court player in tennis history. Could that translate into another US Open win? It certainly would be a sight to see the G.O.A.T. in action again.

A passionate sports fan since childhood, it was always my dream to cover the peak of human potential. Baseball, Tennis, and Football (or Soccer) have been closest to my heart. From Rafael Nadal’s never-say-die attitude to Roger Federer’s beautiful backhand, I’ve seen it all. Prior to the Playoffs, I’ve worked in EssentiallySports and Pro Football and Sports Network.
