Real Madrid’s campaign this season has been lackluster as they’ve gone trophyless. Now it seems that their ambitions for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup have taken a hit already. Real Madrid star duo Jude Bellingham and Endrick are facing injury setbacks just weeks ahead of the tournament in the United States.

The Club World Cup will begin from June 15 and conclude on July 13. Real Madrid will be opening their Group H campaign against Al Hilal on June 18 in Miami. New manager Xabi Alonso is set to make his debut at the tournament. However, with very little time to prepare with a new team, it seems he will already be tested.

Endrick Ruled Out, Real Madrid Lose Their Natural No. 9

18-year-old Brazilian forward Endrick has been ruled out of the tournament because of a hamstring injury. The youngster sustained the injury during Madrid’s 2-0 win over Sevilla. As reported by Diario AS, he will be sidelined for approximately two months.

Hence, he will not only miss Madrid’s Club World Cup campaign but also miss early parts of the pre-season under Alonso. Endrick was one of the few Madrid players to avoid injury this season. However, he suffered a muscle tear in the last match and was diagnosed after experiencing continued discomfort during training.

As a result, they will miss their only natural centre-forward in the tournament. However, Madrid certainly have a plethora of talent to fall back on for the tournament. They will have Rodrygo, Vinicius Junior, and Kylian Mbappe at their disposal for attacking duties along with Arda Guler and Brahim Diaz also in contention.

Meanwhile, Jude Bellingham is expected to play in the tournament despite a long-standing shoulder issue. The 21-year-old dislocated his left shoulder back in November 2023 during their match against Rayo Vallecano. He returned to action quickly after initial rehab. However, The Athletic reports that Real Madrid and Bellingham have agreed to schedule a surgery.

However, the condition has been that it will only be after the Club World Cup. Specialists estimate it will take a 12-week recovery period. Hence, Bellingham will have to miss the start of the 2025–26 La Liga season. Reportedly, the shoulder issue has been bothering Bellingham repeatedly since he joined them.

So, the surgery is needed. Reportedly, it will take place at the same clinic Madrid have used for other key players like Rudiger and Militao. Although Bellingham remains available, there are concerns over his match fitness and form. Madrid staff had previously acknowledged that his shoulder problems date back to his Borussia Dortmund days.

Despite the setbacks, Real Madrid will hope to rely on their returning stars, including Militao and Carvajal. They should also have Trent Alexander-Arnold at the back ready to mount a serious challenge for the €150 million prize money for this edition of the extended Club World Cup.
