John Cena has sucessfully retained his Undisputed WWE title for the first time at Backlash 2025. He won the title at WrestleMania 41 after defeating Cody Rhodes. However, both him becoming the champion and his first title defense involved illegal means.

John Cena, it seems, is going to see the return of another of his past rivals in the WWE very soon. He is “The Beast Incarnate” Brock Lesnar. This is one opponent that has almost always dominated John Cena inside the ring whenever they met. So, are F-5s, German Suplexes and Kimura Locks going to be champion John Cena’s kryptonite? Brock Lesnar’s Return Match Is Apparently Called “End of an Era 2”

Brock Lesnar is apparently coming back to the WWE during the time of SummerSlam 2025. He will be heading directly into a confrontation with John Cena for the Undisputed WWE Championship. It will apparently lead to a match between the two at SummerSlam 2025. The match is called “End of an Era 2”. The name is a hint to the excellent Hell in a Cell Match between The Undertaker vs Triple H at WrestleMania XXVIII on April 1, 2012. Notably, SummerSlam in 2025 will be a two-night event for the first time in its history. BROCK REMIX and BROCK LESNAR shared the rumored news as their official Instagram post.

Brock Lesnar’s return to the WWE is however still a rumor. The Stamford based company has not confirmed it as per reports. This is due to Brock Lesnar’s name being involved in the accusations against Vince McMahon by Janel Grant. This has led to the Stamford based compay to freeze all kinds of deals with Brock Lesnar. Brock Lesnar has not appeared in the WWE since SummerSlam 2023. Moreover, Cody Rhodes had name-dopped Brock Lesnar which led to runors about his return at WrestleMania 41. However, that did not happen. Hence, Brock Lesnar’s WWE return continues to be a rumor for SummerSlam 2025 as well. That being said, if he does return, John Cena will find himself facing a huge problem involving his title.

John Cena and Brock Lesnar’s Rivalry in the WWF/WWE

John Cena and Brock Lesnar have been rivals for a very long time. Both of these wrestlers had been active through both the WWF and WWE incarnations of the company. Notably, they both developed their skills at Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) before debuting in the WWF/WWE. They had also put some of the best matches whenever they faced each other like Extreme Rules 2012 and SummerSlam 2014. However, Brock Lesnar has always proved to be the dominant one in their feud (via WWE on YouTube)-

Brock Lesnar squared off against John Cena for the WWE World Heavyweight title at SummerSlam 2014. He absolutely destroyed The Cenation Leader with 16 German Suplexes and two F-5’s as per the WWE official site. He also attacked John Cena with several punches throughout the match. Brock Lesnar became the new WWE World Heavyweight title winner once the match ended. Moreover, this match was purely an one-sided beatdown as John Cena was totally ineffective against The Beast Incarnate.

John Cena can be facing another similar situation if he does indeed end up facing Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam 2025. Fans will just have to wait and find out if the rumors are true or not till then.
