WWE Backlash 2025: John Cena Uses His New Finisher Against Arch-Rival, Randy Orton

Randy Orton and John Cena add a new chapter to their 25 year long rivalry.

John Cena and Randy Orton have been fighting each other for 25 years now. Their rivalry has seen its share of brutality, but they are still entertaining their fans. These two legends know each other so well that they easily counter each other’s moves as well as use them on each other. Randy Orton countered John Cena’s Attitude Adjustment and Shoulder Tackle with an RKO. He executed the Attitude Adjustment on John Cena twice in the match.

John Cena and Randy Orton are familiar with each other’s wrestling style however, the roles are reversed this time. John Cena, for the first time, is a heel, and while Cody Rhodes hesitated from cheating during the match, Randy is known for replying in his opponent’s language. Randy was able to kick out of every move that John Cena used on him.

John Cena Stooped to Using His Illegal Finisher to Defeat Randy Orton

History repeated itself when John Cena defeated Randy Orton, and there were not one but two events that repeated themself. John Cena defeated Randy Orton and used the finisher he used at WrestleMania. He delivered a Low Blow, followed by hitting Randy on his head with the Championship belt when the referee was not there. Randy Orton lost in front of his home crowd, but the rivalry is far from over.

Randy Orton created numerous chances during the match, where he could have won the championship, but was denied the victory on every occasion. He countered Attitude Adjustment with an RKO. He delivered two Attitude Adjustments to John Cena, sending him through the announcer’s table and then through a wooden table.

Randy accidentally hit the first referee, and the second referee took time to enter the ring, giving John time to kick out. John Cena then tried to hit Randy with the Undisputed Championship belt, but hit the referee instead. Randy landed a vicious RKO on John Cena, but the referee was already down and could not perform the count. Nick Aldis and other officials entered the ring to check on the referee.

Randy, denied of the confirmed victory, snapped and delivered an RKO to Nick Aldis and all the officials. He was about to deliver a Punt Kick to John Cena, but R-Truth entered the ring and stopped him. Randy delivered an RKO to him and threw him outside the ring. This allowed John Cena to deliver a Low Blow and hit Randy with the Championship belt to retain his title.
