Shevchenko Eyes for a Super Fight With Weili

Valentina Shevchenko is set to defend her women’s flyweight title against Manon Fiorot in the UFC 315 co-main event on May 10, 2025, at Bell Centre in Montreal. However, there are chatters about a dream matchup with strawweight champ Zhang Weili which has sort of taken over the spotlight. Weili, fresh off a stunning defense against Tatiana Suarez at UFC 312 in February, has voiced her ambition to move up the division and chase a second belt. While timing didn’t align for an immediate fight, Shevchenko (24-4-1 record) is open to the challenge, that is if she beats Fiorot.

Shevchenko said, “You know, I like her as a fighter. I like her as a person. As opponent as well… For me, I start to compare myself and like, study my opponent when I sign the contract for the next fight. Before that, I feel it’s kind of like wasting time because you never know, like when it’s happened, and it’s really happening. But you will have another opponent. You have to study, like, very, very close. That’s why it doesn’t make any sense to speak about it right now. When it happens, when the time is right, then, yes, we will go and sit with my team and analyze everything, and like to see how this match up playing. But for now, I have my next fight this Saturday. And my focus, it’s like completely 100% into this fight.”
