Aaron Holiday
Aaron Shawn Holiday was born on September 30, 1996, in Ruston, Louisiana, and grew up in California. He is the youngest of three brothers who became professional basketball players in the NBA, the others being Jrue Holiday and Justin Holiday. Growing up in a family with a strong basketball tradition, Aaron began building his reputation at Campbell Hall School in Los Angeles. During his high school career, he demonstrated himself to be a talented point guard, leading his team to a state title and earning prestigious individual awards. His ability to score and organize the offense caught the attention of top universities. Collegiate Career at UCLA (2015–2018) Holiday chose to attend the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), following the tradition of great point guards from the school. His collegiate career was marked by constant evolution and the development of a leadership mindset. Freshman Year: Started as a reserve, but quickly became a key player, showing flashes of his ball-handling and shooting ability. Junior Year and Highlight: After considering entering the Draft early, he returned for his junior season (2017–2018), where he exploded as one of the best point guards in the country. He led the Pac-12 Conference in scoring and was named to the First Team All-Pac-12 and was one of 10 finalists for the Jerry West Award (best shooting guard in the country). His averages that season were 20.3 points, 5.8 assists, and 3.7 rebounds per game. His performance earned him a guaranteed spot in the NBA Draft. Professional Career in the NBA (2018–Present) Aaron Holiday was selected by the Indiana Pacers as the 23rd overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft. Indiana Pacers (2018–2021) With the Pacers, Holiday spent three seasons, alternating between backup and starting point guard roles. He was valued for his speed, his ability to create plays, and his consistent three-point shooting. However, the team was looking for more consistency at the position, and he was eventually traded. Movement Between Teams (2021–2024) His career subsequently saw him play for several teams in search of a more defined role: In 2021, he was traded to the Washington Wizards, where he played for part of the season. In 2022, he was traded to the Phoenix Suns, where he had a brief stint. In 2022, he signed with the Atlanta Hawks, where he had a role as a backup point guard and actively participated in the team’s rotation. In 2023, he signed a contract with the Houston Rockets, where he primarily served as a solid and reliable point guard coming off the bench. In 2025, Holiday was traded to the Golden State Warriors, where he is seen as an important piece of depth for the roster. Personal Life Aaron Holiday is notably part of one of the most famous families in the NBA, the “Holiday Brothers.” His older brother, Jrue Holiday, is an NBA champion and a defensive star. His middle brother, Justin Holiday, is also a respected veteran in the league. The bond between the three brothers is very strong, and they often compete against each other and, occasionally, play on the same team (though briefly, during Aaron and Justin’s time with the Pacers). Off the court, Aaron is known for being reserved and focused, staying out of the media spotlight, except for his philanthropic work with his family.
