Jimmy Butler officially requests a trade from the Miami Heat: Report

Butler is reportedly open to playing for any team other than Miami.

After weeks of speculation and uncertainty, it now seems clear that Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat are on the verge of parting ways this season. According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the six-time All-Star has “formally indicated” to the Heat that he wants to move away from Miami.

Butler, who has been the face of the franchise for years, is reportedly open to playing for any team other than Miami and believes he can help turn any team into a contender.

“Want to see me getting my joy back playing basketball” – Jimmy Butler

The news comes after Butler’s frustrating performance in the Heat’s 128-115 loss to the Indiana Pacers on Thursday night, where he scored just nine points. He took just six shots, finishing with nine points and a team-worst minus-27

After the game, Butler admitted that he has lost his joy playing for Miami.

“I want to see me getting my joy back playing basketball. Wherever that may be, we’ll find out here pretty soon,” Butler said. “I’m happy here off the court, but I want to be back to somewhat dominant, I want to hoop and I want to help this team win, and right now I’m not doing it.”

When asked if he could regain his joy on the court with the Heat, Butler said, “Probably not.”

Trade rumors surrounding Butler have been circulating since last month, but last week, Heat President Pat Riley spoke publicly to dismiss the idea of a trade. Riley stated that the team had no plans to move Butler. However, with Butler now openly expressing his unhappiness and desire for a change, it remains to be seen whether Miami will reconsider its stance.
